Lomond-Helensburgh 2XV Vs Clydebank 2XV
In a thrilling rugby match, the Lomond-Helensburgh (L&H) 2nd XV displayed their dominance by securing a remarkable 53-0 victory against local rivals Clydebank. This victory marks their third consecutive win in as many matches.
The L&H team showcased a remarkable change in strategy, departing from their previous pattern of slow starts. The match kicked off with a burst of energy as the home forwards swiftly regained possession, coming agonizingly close to scoring within the first minute. Initially awarded, the try was later disallowed as the ball had crossed the dead ball line. Undeterred, L&H didn't waste any time, with their forwards creating opportunities. Standoff Stuart King capitalized on this by scoring next to the posts, beautifully converted by T Jay Lambert, setting the score at 7-0.
L&H continued to exert pressure with their forwards disrupting the away team's line-outs and causing chaos in the scrums. This relentless momentum paved the way for Joseph Liptrot to score, although the conversion was missed, making it 12-0. The team's depth was showcased when Mike Kinsman joined the action and promptly added another try five minutes later, with T-Jay successfully converting, widening the gap to 19-0.
As the halftime approached, T-Jay found the try line again, although the conversion was missed, extending their lead to 24-0. This trend continued with T-Jay scoring once more, seizing a loose ball in his own half and sprinting nearly half the pitch to score, taking the score to 29-0 at halftime.
With the wind at their backs in the second half, L&H leveraged it to their advantage with strategic kicks from T-Jay and Iwan Cavil, pinning Clydebank deep in their territory. These tactical kicks led to more tries, with Kinsman scoring to make it 34-0, followed by Lewis Clark at 39-0. A charged-down kick resulted in a try for Blair Crossan, which was skillfully converted by Charles Takel, pushing the score to 46-0.
The final try came from Iwan Cavil, beautifully converted by Ben Wain, sealing the emphatic victory at 53-0. This performance signifies L&H's 2nd XV's outstanding achievement of three wins from three games, with a remarkable total of 24 tries scored during this impressive streak.
